Indian actor Irrfan Khan died at the age of 53 at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani hospital due to a Neuroendocrine tumor on Wednesday 29 Apr. Irrfan was one of the finest and exceptional actors in Bollywood. The legendary actor had left a mark in Bollywood to the west and in the heart of people. He was one of no hatred personalities. 

In his 30 Years of filmy career, he has worked at least 74 films including Slumdog Millionaire, Life of Pie, and Jurassic World. 

Irrfan Khan was suffering from Neuroendocrine tumors from the last two years. In March 2018, he revealed via a tweet about his illness. He took treatment in the UK for a year and returned back to India in Feb 2019. He was recovered well enough to shoot Angrezi Medium. The film that would turn out to be his last.

On 28 April 2020, he was admitted to Mumbai’s Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani hospital with a colon infection and on Wednesday 29 Apr Irrfan left this world. A statement confirming his death by 1100 AM been released by his team.

Many celebrities and twitterati paid tribute to Irrfan in an emotional post on Twitter after the actor died.

Personal life And Career.

On 7 Jan 1967 born as Sahabzade Irfan Ali Khan, professionally known as ‘Irrfan Khan’ or simply ‘Irrfan‘ to a Muslim family in Jaipur Rajasthan. His Father Yaseen Ali Khan was from Khajuriya village of Tonk district in Rajasthan and used to run a tire business. Khan spent his childhood in Tonk and Jaipur.

He showed interest in acting as influenced by his maternal uncle who himself was a theatre artist. Irrfan joined theatre as an artist and did several stage performances in the Jaipur city. 

Later in 1984, he joined the National School of Drama (NSD) in New Delhi to study acting. There he met and worked with several famous actors and Directors like Tigmanshu Dhulia a good friend of Irrfan.

Khan was married to writer and fellow National School of Drama (NSD) graduate Sudapa Sikdar and had two son’s Babil and Ayan.

In 2012, he changed his first name ‘Irfan’ to ‘Irrfan’, added extra ‘r‘ in his name. He said he liked the sound of extra ‘r‘ in his name. Later he dropped his last name ‘Khan’ from his name because – He wanted his work to define him, not his descent.

Irrfan Khan once said on the promotion of film Madari,

“Slaughtering of ‘Bakra’ does not mean Qurbani, The traditional style of sacrifice by Muslims.”

He added,

The Qurbani is to sacrifice something which is close to you instead of buying a Goat or Sheep from the market and kill on the name of Qurbani.

He was a great artist and above all great human beings.
