In the year 1576 Akbar attacked Maharana Pratap in Haldighati. Maharana fought bravely against Mughals. The battle was not easy as Akbar was with an army of 80,000 soldiers and Maharana had only 20,000. He lost this battle due to the betrayal of his brother.

Today is the 480th anniversary of the greatest Rajput warrior of Hindustan Maharana Pratap. He is one of the greatest warriors who got their name mentioned in the pages of history. Maharana Pratap was born on 09 May 1540 in Kumbhalgarh, Mewar, Rajasthan.

He was the 13th king of the Sisodia Dynasty in Mewar. He was the elder son of Maharaja Uday Singh II and Jaiwanta Bai. Pratap fought against the Mughal emperor Akbar and successfully resisted the efforts of Akbar to demolish his area. He recovered most areas from Mughal and died as a hero to his people on 19 Jan 1597. On the occasion of his birth anniversary, many programs being organized across India.

Strongest warrior in India.

Maharana Pratap was one of the strongest warriors in India. His height was 7 feet 5 inches and a weight of more than 110 kg. He used to carry 360 kg of weight including 80 kg of a spear, two swords weighing 208 kg, and armor around 72 kg. 

Akbar’s friendship proposals.

Maharana Pratap was always against Akbar’s friendship proposals while other Rajput rulers surrendered to Akbar and become a member of the Mughal council. He denied Akbar’s proposals and clashed for many years with Mughals and defeated them many times.

Haldighati battle: 22,000 soldiers against 80,000 soldiers.

Maharana Pratap’s horse Chetak.

Maharana had a horse named Chetak, who was blue horse. Chetak has his special place in Maharana’s heroic story as he won many battles due to Chetak’s sensitivity, loyality and bravery. Chetak’s face used to be masked with elephant mask to confuse elephants of enemy. The brave chetak lost his life while jumping a 21 feet wide river to save Maharana.

Personal life.

Maharana Pratap had 11 wives, from which Maharani Ajabde Punwar was his favourite. All of his marrieges believed to perform due to political reasons.

Demise and Legacy.

Maharana Pratap fought several battles and servived in his life. But due to a hunting accident on 19 Jan 1597, he lost his life and left for heavenly adobe.
